SOS Children’s Village Welcomes New CEO

Coconut Creek, FL- As the New Year started, Jeffrey Zirulnick stepped in as CEO of SOS Children’s Villages – Florida, replacing Marjory Bruszer who retired in December after nearly a decade of service to the foster care neighborhood in Coconut Creek.

“His experience working with non-profit organizations like the University of Miami, the Epilepsy Foundation of Florida, local synagogues, and youth groups made him the perfect candidate to step into Margie’s shoes,” says Board President Barrington Russell. “He has the skills necessary to lead the organization into the future and to connect with the boys and girls who call the Village home.”

Continuing the development of vital services for their foster children and expanding the Village to increase number of children they can serve are two goals for the new CEO. The organization has already built an impressive number of onsite services and community partnerships to provide help to the youth living in the Village and the young adults who age out of foster care at SOS. Ongoing tutoring, therapy, and life skills classes that help children overcome their traumas and become independent adults are just as important as food, shelter, and clothing at SOS.

Expanding the Village’s reputation in the community is the other goal for the incoming CEO’s team. None of the additional children’s services are possible without the support of the community who contribute funds and volunteers. It is these loyal donors, friends, and new donors who provide the opportunity to meet the SOS promise of healing, hope, and home for the children.

“Margie has left a magnificent legacy for us to follow,” says Jeffrey. “I am looking forward to continuing her work to ensure that our foster children discover home and family at SOS.”
